The Blank ArtDate VII Edition: Sacro/Sagra in Bergamo

The seventh edition of The Blank ArtDate, titled 'Sacro/Sagra', takes place from May 26 to 28, 2017, in Bergamo, Italy, at the Longuelo oratory. The festival explores the concept of 'sacred' and 'ritual' through contemporary art, with artists reinterpreting human rituals. Artistic director Stefano Raimondi explains that The Blank, founded in Bergamo in 2010, is a cultural network that fills 'voids' with concrete artistic actions. Participating artists include Cory Arcangel, who designed staff T-shirts; Ryan Gander, who selected cocktails from his book 'Artist's Cocktails'; Erik Saglia, who created a 'wheel of fortune'; Marco Basta, Riccardo Beretta, and Andrea Mastrovito, who designed placemats; Simone Berti, who organizes a dart tournament with art targets; Zak Kitnick, who contributes colorful banners; Ethan Cook, who exhibits bronze sculptures mimicking food; and Gabriele De Santis and Jonathan Monk, who run a stall reflecting on art and economy. The program includes a video by Cosimo Terlizzi at UBI Banca, a live soundtrack by OVO for James Whale's 'Frankenstein', a performance by Marinella Senatore with local folk group Rataplam, and a conference by De Santis and Monk at Casa Suardi. The event is organized by The Blank Contemporary Art association.
