The Art Chapter Returns to BASE Milano for Fifth Edition

The fifth edition of The Art Chapter, an art book fair dedicated to artist publishing, will take place at BASE Milano from January 27 to 29, 2023. Organized by Studio Boîte in collaboration with BASE, the fair brings together 40 exhibitors including independent publishers, artists, and collectives. The event features a program of talks and presentations, such as the cosmopolitan collective Libri Finti Clandestini and the launch of Jacopo Valentini's latest book. Admission is free with online registration. In an interview, curators Federica Boràgina and Giulia Brivio discuss how artist publishing offers an alternative exhibition space, especially for those excluded from traditional galleries. They note the growing number of artists starting their own presses, and the enduring value of physical books in the digital age. The fair also highlights a diverse Italian landscape of artist books, fanzines, and photobooks, connected by a spirit of independence and typographic experimentation.
