Thai artist Takerng Pattanopas Curtin dies at 60, leaving legacy of biologically inspired installations
Takerng Pattanopas Curtin, a talented artist from Bangkok, sadly died at 60 on December 24 while vacationing in Ireland with his partner, curator Brian Curtin. His art explored the interplay of concave and convex shapes across various mediums. After earning a master's in ceramics from the University of Wales in 1996, he completed a PhD in sculpture at the University of Gloucestershire in 2000. Health challenges in the early 2000s, including adrenal and pituitary tumors, influenced his later works, like intricate installations made of woven wire and beads that resembled capillary systems. He was known for the 2007 piece "Erogenous Landscape," which transformed bodily forms into geometric red shapes, and he exhibited his work worldwide for over 20 years.
