Teyana Taylor Revives Dirty Rose Burlesque Show Ahead of Met Gala

On the Saturday night before the Met Gala, Teyana Taylor revived her Dirty Rose burlesque show at Paradise Club inside The Times Square EDITION in New York. The event, now in its third iteration, drew a crowd including Sarah Paulson, Naomi Watts, Serena and Venus Williams, Baz Luhrmann, Gayle King, Marc Jacobs, Law Roach, Irina Shayk, Alex Consani, Haider Ackermann, Daniel Lee, Romeo Beckham, and Lisa Rinna. Phones were sealed in pouches upon entry. Niecy Nash, Taylor's co-star from All's Fair, emceed in a red sequin romper and feather headdress. The show featured death drops, duck walks, ballet, tap dancing, aerial artists, and a trio of NSFW pink pussycats. Taylor performed as her character Grayla Greathouse, a woman on the run. Danielle Brooks introduced acts including 1920s flappers and gun molls. Ten years after Kanye West's Fade video made Taylor a household name, she performed the iconic routine to heavy bass beats. Kaytranada provided the soundtrack. At 1:30 a.m., Taylor closed in a crystalized Calvin Klein Collection look, thanking Kaytranada. Guests received lemon drop cocktails from Dirty Rose-etched hip flasks, and later chicken and fries from Raising Canes, with slippers provided for an after-party lasting past 4 a.m. The name Dirty Rose nods to Tupac Shakur's The Rose That Grew From Concrete, but the immersive motel-style experience blending dance, fashion, music, performance art, lighting, and storytelling is entirely Taylor's own.
