Texas Public Radio and San Antonio Report Merge Operations

Texas Public Radio (TPR) and San Antonio Report have announced a merger, a strategic alliance ratified by both boards, set to take effect on July 1. This partnership is designed to enhance local journalism, boost financial viability, and broaden audience interaction throughout South Texas. The two nonprofit news organizations will collaborate on resources, optimize operations, and allocate more funds to journalism. They have already raised $1.4 million through joint fundraising efforts, with contributions from donors such as the 80/20 Foundation, Charles Butt, and Gregg Popovich. By 2025, their combined annual revenues are projected to exceed $10 million. There will be no job cuts; instead, there will be an increase in hiring for digital storytelling, social media, and development roles. While both entities will keep their individual websites, they will share content and create a long-term integration strategy. TPR operates as an NPR affiliate with seven broadcast stations throughout Texas.
