Tex Willer 75th Anniversary Exhibition Opens in Catania

A new exhibition celebrating 75 years of Tex Willer, the iconic Italian comic book character created by Gianluigi Bonelli and illustrated by Aurelio Galleppini, has opened at the GAM – Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Catania. The show, titled 'Tex a Catania', runs until December 2, 2023, and features dozens of original drawings, covers, and comic pages from the private collection of curator Matteo Belfiore. The exhibition aims to guide both seasoned readers and newcomers through the themes and character traits of the pistolero, emphasizing his sense of justice and generosity. Coordinator Davide Di Bernardo stated that the show is a tribute to the comic and its readers, highlighting the importance of role models. The exhibition is organized by the Associazione Culturale Leaf under the patronage of the City of Catania, with support from Etna Comics and authorization from Sergio Bonelli Editore. Tex Willer debuted on September 30, 1948, with the first issue featuring his iconic yellow shirt, black tie, and Stetson hat, and has since become the longest-running and most prolific Italian comic series with over 750 issues.
