Tesla expands robotaxi service to Dallas and Houston following Austin launch
Tesla has expanded its autonomous ride-hailing program to Dallas and Houston, making Texas the only state with three cities featuring robotaxis. They shared the news through a social media post that included a brief 14-second video of the cars operating without drivers. This follows the service's start in Austin last year, where it launched without safety drivers in January 2026. According to a filing from February, Tesla's Austin robotaxis have been involved in 14 incidents since they began operating. Moreover, in the San Francisco Bay Area, the company provides a more traditional ride service with human drivers. Currently, the Robotaxi Tracker indicates that just one vehicle is registered in Dallas and Houston, compared to 46 in Austin.
