Terry Riley and son Gyan perform at Casa Morra in Naples
On July 27, 2018, Terry Riley, a pioneer of minimalist music, will share the stage with his son Gyan for their inaugural performance in Naples, taking place at the historic Casa Morra's 18th-century courtyard. The pair, known as The Rileys: Terry & Gyan since their 2015 release Sri Moonshine, fuse folk and jazz elements with Riley's distinct repetitive minimalism. Riley's journey began in the 1950s in San Francisco and Berkeley, where he experimented with tape loops and delay systems, eventually influencing the underground rave scene of the 1960s. His 1968 album In C gained international recognition for electronic music. This concert is organized by Fondazione Morra in collaboration with E-M Arts and is part of a tour that includes London and Barcelona. Casa Morra, established in 2016 by Giuseppe Morra in Palazzo Cassano Ayerbo D'Aragona, serves as a contemporary art archive with a century-long exhibition plan extending to 2116. Its collection features works by notable artists such as Julian Beck, Marcel Duchamp, and Marina Abramović. The venue also preserves the Living Theatre Archive and the Mario Franco Archive. Upcoming highlights include the tenth anniversary of Museo Nitsch on September 15, featuring a new installation, and the opening of new rooms for 3PPP+B on October 12.
