TerraMow V1000 Robot Mower Review: AI Vision and Affordability

WIRED has reviewed the TerraMow V1000 robot lawn mower, which retails for $1,200 but can sometimes be found for under $1,000. This mower, equipped with a triple camera system and AI for navigation, does not require boundary wires or RTK antennas. It includes a covered charging station, GPS theft tracking, and offers a year of 4G service (with a $19 annual fee thereafter). The setup process is the simplest among those tested, featuring an automapping function that needs no manual adjustments. It can manage slopes of up to 18 degrees, has a cutting height range of 0.98 to 2.95 inches, and a cutting width of 8 inches. With a full charge, it operates for 150 minutes and takes two hours to recharge. The mower excels in straight-line mowing and obstacle avoidance, although it may occasionally get stuck on gravel. It has rain detection and can access weather reports to avoid storms, but it cannot function at night due to its camera dependency. The app provides a live camera view, though it suffers from translation and grammar errors. The V1000 is ideal for average lawns up to 0.3 acres, while the less expensive V600 is suitable for half that area. The review also mentions that the front wheel struggles on gravel and rough terrain, recommending a four-wheel-drive alternative like the Mammotion Luba 3 AWD for such environments.
