Terraforma Festival Leaves Villa Arconati, Launches Call for New Venue

Terraforma, the experimental music and art festival known for its environmental focus, will no longer be held at Villa Arconati in Bollate, near Milan, after a decade. The creative agency Threes, which has produced the festival since 2014, announced a major shift: the festival will evolve and seek a new location to 'terraform.' A call has been launched on the festival's website inviting the community to propose a site in need of restoration. Additionally, Terraforma is releasing an LP featuring tracks by Lorenzo Senni, Caterina Barbieri, and Suzanne Ciani, along with limited-edition merchandise. The festival has spawned several projects: Terraforma Journal (a biannual English-language magazine), Il Pianeta Come Festival (a micro-festival inspired by Ettore Sottsass's 1972 work, held in Milan, Rome at MACRO, and Paris at Bourse de Commerce), and Terraforma Simposio (a multidisciplinary discussion series since 2021). Notable past initiatives include the Labirinto garden restoration at Villa Arconati based on 19th-century designs by Marc'Antonio Dal Re, the Vaia Stage built from wood felled by Storm Vaia in 2018 (presented with Space Caviar in 2022), and the Bucky Dome geodesic structure created with Salottobuono and architect Bengt Carling in 2023, inspired by Don and Moki Cherry's Organic Music Society.
