Terni Festival 2016: Art and Theatre in Treehouses

festival-fair · 2026-05-05

The Terni Festival internazionale della creazione contemporanea returns from September 16 to 25, 2016, with 30 events, 10 days, 9 premieres, and 5 treehouses. Artistic director Linda Di Pietro outlines three axes: 'Teatro' for production and co-production, 'Città' for public space art, and 'Foresta' for research and urban regeneration. The 'Foresta' project, conceived by Leonardo Delogu/DOM-, involves five treehouses placed on linden trees at the CAOS centro arti opificio siri in Terni, inhabited for ten days by Delogu, Christophe Meierhans, Friso Wiersum/Expodium, Michele DiStefano/MK, and Veridiana Zurita. Each house was designed by a collective of architects selected from an international open call with about 90 candidates; they serve as creative containers and observation points. Artists will develop ideas for the city's future to be realized during Terni Festival 2017. Other notable performances include 'The Forgetting of Air' by Francesca Grilli, exploring vision in darkness; 'Squares do not (normally) appear in nature' by OHT | Office for a Human Theatre, inspired by Josef Albers; and 'Film – Macchina della vista e dell'udito' by Opera / Vincenzo Schino, featuring a 30-meter oil-painted canvas in 12 scenes by Pierluca Cetera on the apocalypse.
