Terna Launches Second Edition of Driving Energy Photography Prize
Terna, Italy's largest independent electricity transmission network operator, has launched the second edition of the Driving Energy Contemporary Photography Prize. The competition is open to all photographers in Italy, with free entry and a deadline of June 30, 2023. The theme for this year is 'Elogio dell'equilibrio' (Praise of Balance), inviting interpretations on balance in energy distribution and photography. The prize is organized in collaboration with Azienda Speciale Palaexpo and Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome. The jury is chaired by Lorenza Bravetta, curator of Photography, Cinema and New Media at Triennale di Milano, who succeeds Salvatore Settis. New jurors include Maria Alicata, Diane Dufour, Andrea Purgatori, and Francesco Zanot. New categories have been added: the Amatori Prize and the Accademia Mention for students. An honorary committee composed of the five winners from the first edition will award one prize. Finalists' works will be exhibited at Palazzo delle Esposizioni and published in the fourth volume of the Driving Energy catalog. The first edition received over 1,300 entries from across Italy, with participants aged 18 to 85. A multidisciplinary event 'Elogio dell'equilibrio: un dialogo tra le arti' was held at Spazio Novecento in Rome, featuring a talk by Bravetta and a musical performance by an ensemble from the Accademia di Santa Cecilia.
