Terme di Caracalla to Become Major Exhibition Space in Rome

exhibition · 2026-05-05

The Baths of Caracalla, a Roman site dating back to the 3rd century, is becoming a prominent location for exhibitions. Currently, it showcases 'Molti', a solo exhibition by photographer Antonio Biasiucci, curated by Ludovico Pratesi, which will be on display until November 19. This follows earlier contemporary art displays, such as Michelangelo Pistoletto's 'Mela Reintegrata' in 2016 and 'Terzo Paradiso' in 2012. Biasiucci's work, created in 2009, consists of 50 black-and-white images representing diverse ethnicities, contemplating the plight of migrants lost in the Mediterranean and drawing connections between ancient slaves and contemporary migrants. Superintendent Francesco Prosperetti emphasized the potential of the nearly two kilometers of galleries for significant exhibitions, referencing past shows at the Baths of Diocletian.
