Terme di Caracalla in Rome launch evening visits with Battaglia photo show
Starting September 14, 2023, the Baths of Caracalla in Rome will open for evening visits, allowing the public to explore the ancient complex after sunset. The site, built in 216 AD, is one of the largest and best-preserved thermal complexes of antiquity. Visitors can access the Mithraeum, underground areas (not always open), gymnasiums, natatio, frigidarium, and mosaics. Last entry is at 21:45. The evening openings are a recurring summer and autumn tradition, according to Daniela Porro, Special Superintendent of Rome. Concurrently, the exhibition "Letizia Battaglia Senza Fine" is on view, curated by Paolo Falcone and organized with Electa, the Archivio Letizia Battaglia, and the Fondazione Falcone per le Arti. The show, inaugurated in May 2023, features 92 photographs (some previously unpublished) displayed in two new rooms within the thermal complex. The exhibition was realized just over a year after the Palermo-born photographer's death.
