Teodora Axente's 'Allegoria' Installation Opens at Siena's Museo Civico
At the Museo Civico di Siena, the exhibition 'Allegoria. Dedica ad Ambrogio Lorenzetti' showcases a unique installation by Romanian artist Teodora Axente, under the curation of Riccardo Freddo and Michela Eremita. Situated in the Sala del Concistoro, the display includes two grand polyptychs featuring twenty-two original paintings that engage with Ambrogio Lorenzetti's fresco series 'Allegory and Effects of Good and Bad Government' (1338-1339). Axente's artwork contemplates themes of civic virtues and the implications of governance. Notably, she is set to design the Drappellone for the Palio di Siena on 16 August 2026, marking her as the 16th woman to achieve this. The exhibition is open daily from 10:00 to 19:00 until 27 September 2026 at the Museo Civico di Palazzo Pubblico, Siena.
