Ten Studio's 60-Degree Pavilion Turns Cycling Rest Stop into Ecological Interface
The 60-Degree Ecological Pavilion, crafted by Ten Studio, has transformed a cycling rest area into a sustainable ecological model on Chongming Island’s Dongtan Greenway in Shanghai. This initiative caters to a well-known cycling tourism path. Utilizing a 60-degree triangular framework, the pavilion organizes various activities and environmental functions. It offers cyclists sheltered spaces, including areas for resting and bike repairs, while also promoting bird habitats and plant life overhead. Built with a lightweight steel structure and gabion walls, it incorporates solar panels and a rainwater harvesting system. Additionally, a transparent LED facade showcases cycling-related content and has the potential for advertising revenue. The design features three site variations by Xudong Zhu, Xingyu He, and Yiqiu Wu.
