Ten House Museums to Visit in Rome
The legacy of artists and intellectuals is preserved in Rome's house museums. After a four-year closure, the Casa Museo Mario Praz, located in Palazzo Primoli near Piazza Navona, has reopened, displaying over 1,200 items amassed by critic Mario Praz. The Casa Museo de Chirico, which opened its doors in 1998 at Piazza di Spagna, showcases works from the 1940s and 1950s by Giorgio de Chirico. Established in 1962 near Villa Torlonia, Lo Studio Luigi Pirandello features the author's library and his Nobel Prize plaque. The Casa Museo Andersen in Flaminio, designed by Hendrik Christian Andersen, is now fully accessible. The Keats-Shelley House, a property of FAI, pays tribute to Keats, Shelley, and Byron. Additional museums include Casa Museo Pietro Canonica, Casa Museo Alberto Moravia, Casa Museo Goethe, Lo Studio Trombadori, and the soon-to-open Casa Museo di Pasolini in 2025.
