Ten curators to lead OFF-Biennale Budapest fifth edition

festival-fair · 2026-04-24

So, the OFF-Biennale in Budapest is happening again for its fifth time from May 1 to June 15. This year, there’s a team of ten curators, including Nikolett Erőss and Rita Kálmán, among others. They’ll be organizing exhibitions around the city, focusing on the theme of 'security.' This biennale started back in 2014 as a grassroots effort to shake up Hungary's art scene, which is often seen as centralized and tied to political parties. It highlights that security is a fundamental right and something we all need, but unfortunately, with all the political debates and the growing security industry, many people are finding it harder to access that security.
