Tempesta Gallery Opens in Milan with Female-Focused Program

Tempesta Gallery inaugurated on September 24, 2020, at Foro Buonaparte 68 in Milan, founded by gallerist Simone Becchio and architect-designer Stefano Bonzano. The gallery's initial program is entirely female, featuring mid-career artists in dialogue with historical figures. The opening exhibition, "La Ragazza di città," presents works by Lucia Leuci alongside pieces by Carol Rama. Becchio, who began collecting at age 16 and studied ancient, modern, and contemporary art, aims to create a space where creative energies meet. The gallery is located in central Milan, between the Duomo and Castello Sforzesco, a crossroads of history and innovation. Originally planned for April 2020, the opening was delayed due to the pandemic. The gallery's programming focuses on contemporary themes such as the relationship between society and environment, and the pacifying role of art. It will represent a few artists, supporting them in producing site-specific projects. The main section displays new works by mid-career artists, while a viewing room features iconic works by 20th-century masters. Leuci's exhibition draws inspiration from the domestic hearth, reconstructing a kitchen interior with anthropomorphic figures, exploring a sustainable relationship between individuals and rural landscapes. Rama's bricolage works in the viewing room echo similar themes of irony and aggression.
