Tellas Creates Giant Basketball Court as Blooming Playground in Turin

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Street artist Tellas (Cagliari, 1985) has completed Blooming Playground, a 550-square-meter urban art basketball court in the courtyard of the former Accademia Militare in central Turin. The court is painted as a lush flowering garden and permanently hosts two maple trees, the only remaining residents of the site. The project is commissioned by PRS – Paratissima Produzioni & Servizi, curated by Francesca Canfora, and realized in collaboration with PMS Basketball, Elettrogruppo Zerouno, and PPG Univer. The work marks the reopening of ARTiglieria – Centro d’Arte Contemporanea, which will host Paratissima Art Station from October 23 to December 8, a new exhibition format for galleries and independent artists. Lorenzo Germak, CEO of PRS, stated that art and creativity should serve the community, particularly for youth health and well-being, and that the naturalistic theme and preservation of trees reflect a deliberate integration of art into the urban context of ARTiglieria.
