Tellas creates camouflage murals in Carrara and Rome

Street artist Fabio Schirru, known as Tellas (born 1985 in Cagliari), has completed a 160-square-meter mural on a public housing building in Carrara from November 10 to 14. The work, co-promoted by the Municipality of Carrara and Erp, uses vegetation motifs to camouflage the concrete structure at the border between Avenza and Marina di Carrara. It is part of Tellas's new series 'Mimesi,' which began in Ragusa with the 'Bitume' project. Carrara's culture assessor Federica Forti noted that the city already hosts works by Orticanoodles, Ozmo, and Kobra. Simultaneously, Tellas is working in Rome's Villa Gordiani (Quinto Municipio) on two murals curated by Galleria Wunderkammern, selected by local residents. The Rome intervention is part of the Festival E.P.ART, promoted by Ecomuseo Casilino and funded by the Estate Romana 2020–2021-2022 program, part of ROMARAMA 2020, in collaboration with SIAE and under the patronage of Municipio Roma V. The festival runs from 2020 to 2022 across several neighborhoods. Tellas's Roman mural includes flora samples from Vincenzo Cesati's herbarium and local plants, aiming to integrate with the park's history.
