festival-fair · 2026-07-21

Tejiendo la calle, an annual textile art event, has been taking place in Valverde de la Vera, Cáceres, since 2012. The 14th edition, which will continue until August 2026, showcases creations focused on butterflies as part of the Remiendos del paisaje series. Residents ranging in age from 3 to 93 contribute to the installation through various workshops. Designed by Marina Fernández Ramos, the project employs crochet, embroidery, patchwork, and painting techniques, utilizing repurposed materials such as plastic bags and recycled PET fabrics. Notably, the 2026 edition features PVC banners donated by Jorge León, highlighting butterfly species with insights from José Gabriel González Vázquez. Valverde de la Vera, a Historic-Artistic Site with approximately 500 residents, received the Beautify the Town Prize at the 2023 CRQLR Awards.
