Teho Teardo's album inspired by Diderot's Encyclopédie premieres at Feltrinelli festival

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

The Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli in Milan presents the second edition of Welcome to Socotra, a cultural festival running from June 24 to July 23, 2022. The festival features five weekends of music, dance, theater, national premieres, and workshops, transforming the Herzog & de Meuron-designed building into a symbol of biodiversity. The opening concert coincides with the final date of Teho Teardo's tour for his album "Ellipses dans l'harmonie – Lumi al buio," released in March 2020 on Specula Records. The album was produced by the Fondazione itself, marking its first foray into music production. Teardo was invited by director Massimiliano Tarantino to explore the foundation's archive, where he discovered the first edition of Diderot and d'Alembert's Encyclopédie. The Encyclopédie contains musical scores intended as teaching examples, which Teardo recorded and used as a basis for his compositions. The album includes ten tracks named after the original scores. It was recorded at Villa Manin in Friuli-Venezia Giulia with support from CSS Teatro Stabile di Innovazione. Teardo will be joined on stage by cellists Flavia Massimo and Laura Bisceglia, and violist Ambra Chiara Michelangeli. The tour has already visited Florence, Bologna, Mestre, and Rome.
