Tehching Hsieh's Time Clock Piece leads group show on temporality at Kunstmuseum Ravensburg

Kunstmuseum Ravensburg presents 'It's All About Time,' a group exhibition exploring temporal perception through large-scale installations by six international artists. The show is anchored by Tehching Hsieh's 'One Year Performance 1980–1981 (Time Clock Piece),' in which the artist punched a time clock every hour for a year, taking a self-portrait each time. Hsieh, born in Nanzhou, Taiwan in 1950 and based in New York, created what is described as one of the most uncompromising works on the subject of time. The exhibition examines natural cycles, biological rhythms, and the pulse of late capitalism, alongside prayer rituals that evoke trance, rave, and ecstasy, suspending linear time for an expanded present. Other artists in the show present works that make visible different dimensions of temporal experience.
