TEFAF New York Fall 2017: 7 Highlights from the Second Edition

TEFAF New York Fall returns to the Park Avenue Armory for its second edition, running until November 1, 2017. The fair, which debuted last year as an American offshoot of the prestigious Maastricht-based art and antiques fair, features 95 dealers (12 new) offering works spanning up to 1920, including manuscripts, jewelry, arms, miniatures, and armor. Highlights include a 600 BCE Osiris statuette from London's Charles Ede gallery, two folding stools from the court of Louis XV (circa 1755-59) by Nicolas-Quinibert Foliot, presented by Burzio gallery, and a special exhibition of Vera Lutter's photographs in partnership with LACMA. Bowman Sculpture brings a 21 cm terracotta bust by Auguste Rodin (1840-1917), while Daniel Katz Gallery offers a 35 cm bronze by Camille Claudel (1864-1943), designed in 1887 and cast in 1913. Galerie G. Sarti of Paris shows Jusepe de Ribera's 1616 painting "King David" (126x91 cm). The fair also includes a special project, "Painting on Paper: Vera Lutter's Old Master Photographs," with works not for sale.
