festival-fair · 2026-05-15

TEFAF New York 2026 opened at the Park Avenue Armory, drawing large crowds. The fair features iconic works by Alexander Calder, Alighiero Boetti, and Josef Albers, alongside solo presentations. Gagosian (stand 350) dedicates its booth to Kathleen Ryan's new 'Bad Fruit' sculptures, including a cantaloupe encrusted with freshwater pearls, rose quartz, agate, and carnelian, and deflated grapes on copper stems. Thaddaeus Ropac (stand 345) presents Eva Helene Pade's three monumental canvases following her London solo 'Søgelys'. Axel Vervoordt Gallery (stand 206) showcases overlooked Italian painter Ida Barbarigo (1920–2018) in an upper period room, with prices ranging €15,000–€75,000. In collectible design, Galerie Patrick Seguin (stand 331) offers Jean Prouvé's demountable houses from 1939–1956, including Villa Lopez (1953) and Valençaude school (1954) exhibited publicly for the first time. François-Xavier Lalanne sculptures, including a colossal bronze duck, appear in the aisles, following a recent Sotheby's sale of Lalanne mirrors from Yves Saint Laurent's collection that achieved $33.5 million. Hauser & Wirth's booth features Vilhelm Hammershøi interiors. TEFAF New York runs through May 19, 2026.
