TEFAF Maastricht Postponed to 2022, Online Edition Set for September 2021

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

TEFAF Maastricht has postponed its in-person edition from September 2021 to March 2022, coinciding with the fair's 35th anniversary. The decision, announced by TEFAF President Hidde van Seggelen, cites the desire to ensure a safe environment for international exhibitors and collectors amid the ongoing pandemic. For 2021, a fully digital edition called TEFAF Maastricht Online will run from September 9 to 13, themed "The Art of Collecting." The online platform will feature virtual booths where exhibitors present up to three interconnected works, as well as TEFAF Collection Pages, a chronological catalog of artworks searchable by period, section, and technique. Organizers aim to provide an intimate and educational experience for both seasoned collectors and new buyers. The postponement comes despite a general recovery of in-person events, such as the Venice Architecture Biennale, reflecting the scale and international scope of TEFAF.
