TEFAF Maastricht 2025 Opens with 273 Galleries and Major Sales
The 38th TEFAF Maastricht commenced on March 15, 2025, following previews held on March 13 and 14. Hosted by The European Fine Art Foundation at the MECC, this event showcases 273 galleries from 21 nations, with 23 exhibitors from Italy, presenting a span of 7,000 years of artistic heritage. Among the highlighted pieces are Les Dormeurs by Pablo Picasso (1965, valued at over $50 million) displayed by Landau Fine Art, and Diego Velázquez's Portrait of Mother Jerónima de la Fuente (circa 1620) at Stuart Lochhead Sculpture. Noteworthy sales include Maarten van Heemskerck's Deposition (circa 1545, priced at €500,000) and Francesco Hayez's Interior of a Harem (1840, estimated between €500,000 and €700,000). The fair continues until March 20.
