TEFAF Maastricht 2023: Tintoretto and Sorolla Lead Early Sales
TEFAF Maastricht 2023 took place at MECC Maastricht from March 9 to 19 and experienced robust early sales. More than 250 museums, including the National Gallery of Washington and the Louvre, participated in the event. Significant transactions featured Jacopo Robusti Tintoretto's 'Ritratto di studioso,' sold by Trinity Fine Art London, and Joaquín Sorolla's 'Bambine sulla spiaggia,' which fetched €2.7 million from Artur Ramon Art Barcelona. Colnaghi facilitated sales of works by Alonso Sánchez Coello and Alonso Berruguete, while White Cube sold over 10 pieces by different artists. In design, Caterina Tognon sold 'Tulipaniera Antica' for €30,000, and Steinitz Gallery's Louis XVI desk went for over €1.5 million. Additional sales included a Meissen vase at €80,000 and a Neolithic goddess for €90,000.
