TEFAF Maastricht 2022 Reports Strong Sales in Post-Pandemic Return
The 35th edition of TEFAF Maastricht took place from June 24 to June 30, 2022, marking the first summer event since the pandemic and showcasing impressive sales. More than 100 prestigious museums, including the Louvre and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, were in attendance. Significant transactions included a huanghuali wood tea table for €100,000 and a wine cabinet for €225,000 sold to the Met by Joost van den Bergh and Thomas Coulbourn & Sons, respectively. Additionally, manuscripts exceeding €1 million were acquired from Dr. Jörn Günther Rare Books, and a silver wine chalice from 1688 fetched over €100,000. Luis de Morales' Virgin and Child was sold for approximately €1.5 million. TEFAF President Hidde van Seggelen hailed it as the premier exhibition of 7,000 years of art history.
