Techno as Contemporary Archaeology: Museion's Immersive Exhibition on Rave Culture and Globalization

Museion in Bolzano is showcasing 'Techno', the inaugural chapter of the Techno Humanities research initiative led by director Bart van der Heide. This exhibition delves into globalization and the intersection of the natural and artificial through the lens of techno music and rave culture. It features a diverse array of international artists who explore concepts of freedom and exhaustion. Noteworthy elements include 'A possible Archive', an audio-archival collection of Bolzano's techno history, along with installations by Nkisi, Yuri Pattison, Emeka Ogboh, and Riccardo Benassi. The exhibition begins and concludes with Sandra Mujinga's avatars and Karin Ferrari's digital dreamcatcher. Additionally, Piero Martinello's rave ecstasy photographs, Paul Chan's kinetic sculptures, and Jan Vorisek's inflatable labyrinth highlight the genre's societal influence over the last four decades.
