Teatro della Quattordicesima reopens in Milan's Corvetto district

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-26

The historic Teatro della Quattordicesima in Milan's Corvetto district has been assigned to Momo Studios, a dance and performing arts organization directed by Pietro Froiio, for the next twelve years following a public tender by Municipio 4. Located at Via Oglio 18, the theater had been closed for fourteen years. It will inaugurate its first season this autumn with a diverse program of fourteen shows and parallel activities including workshops and meetings. Simone Ranieri is the artistic director. The renovation focused on functionality and hospitality: the stage was completely rebuilt for versatility and technical quality, while the auditorium and foyer were renewed for comfort and accessibility. A new internal bar was added to make the theater a meeting place. Programming will feature prose, dance, music, stand-up comedy, family events, and school workshops, emphasizing contemporary language and inclusivity. Froiio stated, 'We believe theater must be a cultural stronghold on the territory. Restoring life to a hall closed for fourteen years is not just an act of courage, but a necessary gesture to rekindle culture in an area like Corvetto.' He also quoted Oscar Wilde: 'A map of the world that does not include Utopia is not worth even glancing at.' The theater aims to engage the neighborhood, schools, and diverse generations.
