Teatro dell'Opera di Roma performs Stravinskij at MAXXI, streams on YouTube

On March 19, 2021, the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma held a closed-door concert dedicated to Igor Stravinskij at the MAXXI museum in Rome, streaming it on its official YouTube channel. The event, part of the 'Roma Opera aperta' project, featured conductor Daniele Gatti leading the Orchestra del Lirico romano in a program including the Concerto in E-flat Dumbarton Oaks, Danses concertantes, and Suites No. 1 and 2 for small orchestra. The performance took place in the exhibition 'senzamargine. Passaggi nell’arte italiana a cavallo del millennio', surrounded by works of Mario Schifano. The initiative responds to the pandemic-induced closure of theaters, allowing the opera to reach audiences digitally. The concert was later broadcast on Rai Radio 3. Superintendent Carlo Fuortes and MAXXI President Giovanna Melandri emphasized the importance of collaboration and bringing opera to unexpected venues.
