TeamLab to Open Digital Art Museum in Stefano Boeri's Wonderwoods Tower in Utrecht

Japanese art collective teamLab will open a permanent digital art museum in Utrecht, Netherlands, in 2024. The museum will be located in Nowhere, a space on the ground floor of Wonderwoods, a visionary real estate complex designed by Italian architect Stefano Boeri. Wonderwoods, designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti and MVSA Architects, is set to be completed in 2023 in the heart of Utrecht. The complex includes a 90-meter-tall version of Boeri's famous Bosco Verticale (Vertical Forest), featuring 10,000 plants of 30 different species on its facades, equivalent to one hectare of forest and producing about 41 tons of oxygen annually. The tower will house approximately 200 apartments, offices, fitness and yoga spaces, bicycle parking, and public recreational areas. At ground level, the Vertical Forest Hub will serve as a documentation and research center on urban forestry. Nowhere, founded by Martijn Sanders and Jeroen van Mastrigt under Utrecht's "Healthy Urban Quarter" initiative, is a 3,000-square-meter space designed for digital and interactive artworks. TeamLab's permanent exhibition will include Future Park, based on collaborative creation, and Athletics Forest, a creative athletic space for spatial awareness training. The collective, founded by engineer Toshiyuki Inoko in 2001, is known for immersive light installations and has previously opened museums in Tokyo, Fukuoka, and New York.
