exhibition · 2026-04-20

Helsinki's Amos Rex, a new private museum dedicated to new media art, opened its doors with the exhibition Massless, showcasing five interactive installations by the Tokyo-based collective teamLab. This group, which includes 500 individuals such as artists, architects, and programmers, has transformed the museum's underground area beneath the 1930s Lasiplatsi building into an immersive audiovisual experience. Among the exhibits, Black Waves (2016) features a digitally animated sea on a concave wall, merging contemporary digital art with traditional Japanese aesthetics. The exhibition runs from 30 August to 6 January, utilizing specially designed black-box rooms next to the museum's Post-Impressionist collection. teamLab's methods are akin to video game development, emphasizing digital technology to create immersive encounters with nature.
