teamLab Phenomena Opens in Abu Dhabi, World's Largest Immersive Art Space

On April 18, 2025, teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi opened in the Saadiyat Cultural District, becoming the world's largest purpose-built venue for multisensory experiences at 17,000 square meters. The inauguration was attended by celebrities including Cate Blanchett, Brendan Fraser, Andrew Garfield, Pom Klementieff, Grant Gustin, Natalia Dyer, Swizz Beatz, Sadhguru, and Flying Lotus. The event was led by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, with a performance by Italian pianist Ludovico Einaudi accompanied by 6,000 synchronized drones and fireworks. The venue is located on Saadiyat Island, which already hosts the Louvre Abu Dhabi and other cultural institutions. The interdisciplinary collective teamLab, founded in 2001 and based in Tokyo, brings together artists, programmers, engineers, CG animators, mathematicians, and architects to explore the relationship between individuals, the world, and new forms of perception. Visitors become part of ever-evolving immersive artworks that respond to movement and presence, ensuring each experience is unique. Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), described the venue as a revolutionary cultural landmark that redefines immersive artistic experiences on a global scale, reinforcing Abu Dhabi's commitment to world-class cultural offerings.
