teamLab Opens New Immersive Museum in Fukuoka, Japan

Japanese art collective teamLab has opened a new museum in Fukuoka, on the northern coast of Kyūshū island. The venue, named teamLab forest, features seven entirely new interactive environments where visitors can immerse themselves in a virtual forest inhabited by fairy-tale creatures. Some installations allow visitors to digitally 'capture' animals via a smartphone app, study them further, and then 'release' them, adding an educational component to the sensory experience. The collective explains that acts of capture and collection are inherently fun, educational, and part of human history.
