TD Bank partners with The Shed to support emerging NYC artists
TD Bank has committed $1.5 million to sponsor Open Call, a program at The Shed in New York City that funds and exhibits emerging local artists. The partnership also includes priority ticketing for low-income residents, public housing residents, and Title 1 school students. The Shed, designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, is a flexible cultural venue in Hudson Yards with a movable outer shell that can extend into an adjacent plaza. Its fixed structure houses eight levels of galleries, a creative lab, and a 500-seat theater. Open Call grants range from $7,000 to $15,000 per artist, and all resulting exhibitions are free and open to the public. TD Bank's Andrew Bregenzer emphasized the bank's commitment to long-term community impact, while Shelley Sylva, U.S. Head of Social Impact, highlighted the program's role in increasing arts access for underrepresented voices.
