TaylorHare Architects, a UK-based studio, has finalized the House in a Clearing, a family residence in East Sussex drawing inspiration from classic farm structures. Situated close to Uckfield, the design comprises three single-storey barn-like sections wrapped in corrugated metal, surrounding a central courtyard. The clients preferred a subdued aesthetic, with the primary black metal structure containing social areas and expansive windows. A cozy snug transitions into a wing with bedrooms featuring intimate white finishes. A glass link connects to an auxiliary building that includes a garage, gym, and guest room. The uniform corrugated metal cladding lends a modern yet grounded atmosphere. The interiors are characterized by minimalism, featuring white walls and light oak timber.
