Tate Schools Launches SEND-First Digital Learning Platform
Tate has introduced Tate Schools, a digital educational platform created with a focus on SEND, developed between 2023 and 2025. Effie Coe, the Curator of Digital Content, unveiled this initiative at the Museum Digital Summit in 2026. The platform was crafted through a collaborative effort involving Tate's Learning and Digital teams, alongside a network of teachers from across the UK, from the Shetland Islands to Margate. Among its notable features are Lightbox, an interactive tool created with The Workers studio, and All The Feelings, a video artwork by India Harvey, produced in collaboration with students and teachers from a special school. Tate Schools includes over 80 resources for key stages one to five, highlighting more than 300 artists, with 75% of the content emphasizing underrepresented creators. Additionally, over 40% of the resources have been co-created with artists, educators, and students. The platform addresses the Visual Eyes Report regarding race and inclusion in art education, with plans to expand the Immersion series into gallery spaces and develop new digital tools.
