Tate Modern to Host Major Paul Cézanne Retrospective This October
Tate Modern in London will present 'The EY Exhibition: Cézanne' from October 5, 2022 to March 12, 2023, featuring 80 works including paintings, watercolors, and drawings from European, Asian, and American collections. The retrospective traces Cézanne's artistic journey from his early days in Provence to his attempts to succeed in 1860s Paris, his friendships with Impressionists like Camille Pissarro, and his return to Provence. Key loans include the portrait of Scipione from Museu de Arte de São Paulo, 'Uomo seduto' (1905-6) from Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid, and 'Madame Cézanne sulla poltrona rossa' (1877) from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, which co-organizes the exhibition with Tate. Claude Monet once called Cézanne 'the greatest among us.'
