Tate Modern's £260m Herzog & de Meuron extension opens June 17, 2016 with 60% more exhibition space
On 17 June 2016, the public will gain access to Tate Modern's new extension, a £260 million structure designed by Herzog & de Meuron. This expansion provides 60 percent additional exhibition space, allowing for a complete reinstallation of the museum's collection alongside recent acquisitions. A special preview day on 16 June 2016 will be reserved for school children from across the United Kingdom. The announcement was made by Tate on 22 September 2015.
