Tate Modern launches Ten Days, Six Nights live exhibition series
Tate Modern in London has announced a new annual live exhibition series titled Ten Days, Six Nights, running from March 24 to April 2, 2017. Part of the BMW Tate Live program, the initiative reimagines the exhibition format to accommodate ephemeral, immersive, and participatory art. The inaugural edition features a fog sculpture by Japanese artist Fujiko Nakaya, who gained prominence in the 1970s through her involvement with Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T.), a movement founded by Robert Rauschenberg and Billy Kluver in 1967. The series evokes the historic Nine Evenings event held in New York in October 1966, which included artists like John Cage, Yvonne Rainer, Robert Rauschenberg, and David Tudor. The venue is the Tanks, the museum's former oil storage spaces converted into a performance and installation area. Achim Borchardt-Hume, director of exhibitions at Tate Modern, stated that the live exhibition reflects a cultural shift toward shared, collaborative experiences in a digital age.
