institutional · 2026-04-20

Tate Modern introduces a monthly Artist Cinema program featuring film premieres, beginning with Phillip Warnell's Ming of Harlem: Twenty One Storeys in the Air on February 18. Narrated by Jean-Luc Nancy, the film explores Antoine Yates's real-life cohabitation with a tiger and alligator in a Harlem apartment. A Q&A with Warnell and Jean-Pierre Rehm follows the screening. The program continues with Albert Serra's Singularity on March 13, commissioned for Catalan participation at the 56th Venice Biennale. Clemens von Wedemayer's The Cast screens on April 30, blending 3D animation with a narrative from the filming of Ben Hur (1959). Rosa Barba's The Hidden Conference, documenting uncurated works at Berlin's Neue Nationalgalerie, shows on May 20. The film previously won the Georges Beauregard International Prize at FIDMarseille-International Film Festival Marseille.
