Mostra di Lee Miller al Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris Traccia la Trasformazione della Modella in Fotografa Surrealista
Dal 10 aprile al 2 agosto 2026, il Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris presenterà una mostra dedicata a Lee Miller. Nata Elizabeth Miller il 23 aprile 1907 a Poughkeepsie, New York, si è evoluta da modella per Vogue a rinomata fotografa surrealista, iniziando con un ritratto del 1930 di George Hoyningen-Huene. All'età di 23 anni si trasferì a Parigi, incoraggiata da Condé Nast e Edward Steichen. Miller ha subito un trauma infantile significativo, tra cui aggressione sessuale e l'assistere a un annegamento. Dopo aver visitato Parigi a diciotto anni, ha ottenuto fama come modella, apparendo sulla copertina di Vogue nel marzo 1927. Le sue relazioni hanno incluso il produttore di Broadway Alfred de Liagre e l'aviatore Argylle, tragicamente morto in un incidente aereo. Suo figlio, Antony Penrose, ha raccontato la sua storia in una biografia pubblicata nel 1988 e riedita nel 2022. La mostra presenterà fotografie d'archivio del 1923 e 1931.
