Taschen Reissues Lawrence Schiller's Marilyn Monroe Photo Memoir for Her Centennial

publication · 2026-05-30

Taschen is reissuing Lawrence Schiller's photographic memoir 'Marilyn & Me' on June 1, 2026, the 100th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe's birth. The book gathers over 100 images from Schiller's archive, including rare outtakes from Monroe's final film 'Something's Got to Give' and behind-the-scenes glimpses of her life. Schiller, then a 25-year-old photographer on assignment for Paris Match, began shooting Monroe on the set of 'Something's Got to Give' in May 1962, just months before her death on August 5, 1962. The memoir includes intimate scenes such as Monroe's 36th birthday celebration on set on June 1, 1962, where she posed with sparklers and sat on actor Wally Cox's lap. Schiller recalls the atmosphere as gloomy, with few studio or personal friends present. A color portrait Schiller took on set became the cover of Life magazine on August 17, 1962, two weeks after Monroe's death. The book was originally published in 2012 and is now available for pre-order at $80.
