Taranto's T.R.U.St. Project Adds 11 New Murals by European Street Artists
The third edition of the T.R.U.St. (Taranto Regeneration Urban and Street) project has concluded, adding 11 new murals to the city's urban landscape. Organized by associations Rublanum and Mangrovie, the initiative ran from October 11 to November 13, 2022. The new works bring the total number of murals to 33, creating an expanding public art route across Taranto's neighborhoods. Eleven European street artists participated: Super A (Stefan Thelen) from the Netherlands reinterpreted Puss in Boots in a "peeled" style; Spanish artist Anna Taratiel (Ovni) created a geometric reflection on the environment; Irish artist Aches used sub-pixel techniques; Italian Etsom reworked the city's dolphin symbol; Claudio Morne collaborated with residents of the Salinella quarter to honor journalist Nadia Toffa for her investigations on local pollution; Vesod produced an imaginative piece on the city-sea relationship; Joys reinterpreted lettering geometrically; Dutch JDL and Belgian IOTA depicted human bodies and faces; Alessandra Carloni painted a surrealist work featuring a seagull-pilot; and Spanish hyperrealist Dadospuntocero focused on climate change. The project, ongoing since 2020, aims to establish Taranto as a leading center for public art in Europe.
