Taranto's Cultural Renaissance: Art, Archaeology, and Street Art
Taranto, a historic Greek settlement located in Puglia, is witnessing a resurgence in cultural activities through various events and exhibitions. Until June, the MArTA (Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Taranto) is presenting the Athenaion project, featuring 3D reconstructions of the Sanctuary of Athena in Castro. Meanwhile, the CRAC (Centro Ricerca Arte Contemporanea) is hosting Hommage and a photographic display by Enzo Ferrari dedicated to Franco Battiato. Since 2020, the T.R.U.St. initiative has introduced 33 street art works in the Paolo VI area, including JDL's 'Love is stronger than death,' which is recognized among the world’s top ten. Additionally, the Concattedrale Gran Madre di Dio, created by Gio Ponti, stands as a modern architectural marvel. Taranto's culinary scene highlights the Slow Food-preserved black mussel at Core restaurant.
