Taraji P. Henson Makes Broadway Debut in August Wilson Revival
Taraji P. Henson is making her Broadway debut as Bertha Holly in the 2026 revival of August Wilson's Joe Turner's Come and Gone at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre. Directed by Debbie Allen, the play is set in 1911 Pittsburgh during the Great Migration and co-stars Cedric the Entertainer as Seth Holly and Joshua Boone as Herald Loomis. Henson, who first encountered Wilson as a student at Howard University, previously played Molly Cunningham in a 2013 radio production for WNYC directed by Phylicia Rashad. The production features period costumes by Paul Tazewell. Henson's Moscato brand Seven Daughters is an official alcohol partner. The play is currently in previews and opens on April 25. Henson's upcoming film Why Did I Get Married Again? with Jill Scott, Sharon Leal, and Tasha Smith releases later this year, and she stars in 'Tis So Sweet, Tasha Smith's directorial debut.
