Taormina Film Fest 67: New Direction with Trio of Critics

The 67th Taormina Film Festival will take place from June 27 to July 3 in Sicily, Italy. This edition marks the first under the artistic direction of three film journalists: Francesco Alò, Alessandra De Luca, and Federico Pontiggia. The program includes six debut and second films in competition, seven major national and international premieres, and a diverse range of genres from family to horror, dark comedy to arthouse. Screenings will be held at the Teatro Antico. Notable Italian films include Michela Cescon's directorial debut 'Occhi Blu', a polar tribute set in Rome; Claudio Cupellini's 'La terra dei figli', a coming-of-age adventure; Davide Ferrario's 'Boys', a story of friendship and a rock band; and Roberto De Feo and Paolo Strippoli's 'Classic Horror Story' about carpoolers trapped in a nightmare. International films include Daniel Brühl's directorial debut 'Next Door', Pierre Pinot's 'La signora delle rose', Yumo Luo's 'Long Day', and 'Peter Rabbit 2'. The documentary 'Summer of Soul' by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson about the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival will also screen. Special guests include Giuseppe Tornatore and Ferzan Ozpetek, who will meet the public for the 20th anniversary of 'Le Fate Ignoranti'.
